The Office of Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade marks ('O/o CGPDTM') had released the initial schedule of the Trade Marks Agent Examination 2027 ('TAE 2027') on their website dated March 27^th, 2026. With reference to the earlier communication, the O/o CGPDTM has now declared the detailed schedule regarding the TAE 2027 on June 23^rd, 2026, with all the related information concerning Schedule of Examination, Online Process for Registration , Eligibility Criteria, Syllabus, and the Examination mode with tentative timelines.

Note:- The O/o CGPDTM shall be the final legal authority for confirmation on all information/issues related to the conduct of the TAE 2027, including the timelines, criteria and manner of conduct of the examination proceedings.

Eligibility

• Trade Marks Rule, 2017:
• It is recommended that prospective candidates for the Trade Marks Agent Examination 2026 verify their qualification in accordance with the guidelines outlined in Rule 144, Trade Marks Rule, 2017. of The Trade Marks Rule, 2017.
• The eligibility criteria for the 2026 Trade Marks Agent Examination will be established in accordance with the Sub-Rule (2), Rule 148, Trade Marks Rule, 2017.

How to Apply for TAE 2027?

[IMPORTANT - Validations] - 2027 TAE Online Application
Before beginning the TAE 2027 online registration process, candidates need have the following information handy.
Ensure that both your personal email address and mobile number are operational. Note: Since these are the primary means of contact and internet access for the duration of the exam, the candidate should ensure that his mobile number and email account are operational. 

• Upload a clear, high definition passport size photograph (JPG/JPEG format). The file size should not be more than 300 KB.
• In black ink only, please submit a signature that is clear and no larger than 100 KB in JPG/JPEG format. Please be advised that signatures in uppercase will not be accepted.

• Proof of Age (Any One) :– PAN Card, Driving License, 10th Class Certificate, Birth Certificate etc.
• Degree Certificate :– Under Rule 144, Trade Marks Rule, 2017.
• Proof of Citizenship (Any One) :– Birth Certificate, Voter ID Card, Passport or Nationality Certificate.

1. Submit your email address and cell phone number to finalize the registration process.- Choose a distinctive User ID.
   Upon registration. Your User ID and TAE 2027 Application Number will be sent to you via email.
2. Fill out the online form with your personal and other relevant information.
3. Please upload copies of the following documents: a photo, a signature, proof of age, certificates, and proof of identity.

4. It is highly recommended that the candidate verify all of the information contained in the application form prior to the submission. No modifications to the form will be permitted after it has been submitted.

5. As per the Rule 147, Trade Marks Rule, 2017.and the Rule 149, Trade Marks Rule, 2017. the required fees for the Trade Marks Agent Examination registration is ₹. 4500/- (Indian Rupees Four Thousand and Five Hundred Only) and same shall be paid in online mode only, kindly pay the fee and submit the application.

Mode of Examination

The exam will be conducted in three parts in offline mode only, the O/o CGPDTM will update in case of any specific arrangement thereto.

✍️ Paper 1

• Questions: 100 MCQs
• Duration: 120 Minutes
• NO Negative Marking

✍️ Paper 2

• Questions: Descriptive types
• Duration: 180 Minutes

The schedule for the TAE 2027 Viva-Voce examination will be disclosed following the conclusion of the written examination. The list of candidates chosen for the Viva-Voce examination will be available on the website. Only candidates who have attained a minimum of 50% in each paper separately will be permitted to participate in the Viva-Voce.

It will be in person offline mode only, Techno-Legal interview at the relevant IPO Office as per the annouced schedule only.

Final Results

The TAE 2027 final results will be available tentatively by Third Week of March 2027 on the official website of the Indian Patent Office.
