The O/o CGPDTM is the ONLY authorised lawful authority for the PAE 2026 Examination related matters for administrative purpose including candidate's qualification in Written Examination and subsequent Viva-Voce and final results announcement. Candidates are strongly recommended to check the O/o CGPDTM offcial website for any information/matter related to PAE Examination 2026.
The Answer key for Paper I (Objective Paper) will be published by the O/o CGPDTM offcial website under Home >> Patents >> Publications >> Patent Agent Examination (Direct Link) for all four question sets, following which within the designated timeline objections can be raised (if any - and annouced by the O/o CGPDTM which strictly discretionary power of the Office), and strictly in the format and medium annouced by the O/o CGPDTM. [No other mode of communication will be allowed than the one specified by O/o CGPDTM]
The Final Paper I Answer key will be published with scrutiny by O/o CGPDTM with reference to objections received (if any).
The Viva-Voce qualifying candidate list will be publish by O/o CGPDTM alogn with the designated location of the O/o CGPDTM with date and time where Viva-Voce will be conducted.
Note: Qualifying Written Examination doesn't constitute right to register as a Patent Agent, its mandatory to appear for Viva-Voce as per the specified schedule and location annouced and achieve desired qualifying marks overall. At end final qualifying candidates only have to submit formal application for registration as a Patent Agent with the fees and relevant documentations as prescribed (As and when annouced by O/o CGPDTM), failure to attend Viva-Voce and/or not getting aggaragate of 60% marks in total for Written Exam and Viva-Voce will result in disualification.

The O/o the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks(CGPDTM)
The Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks (O/o CGPDTM), through its announcement dated 21st July 2025, has released the much-awaited schedule for the Patent Agent Examination 2026. This examination presents an opportunity for eligible candidates to apply and participate, provided they meet the stipulated eligibility criteria. Only candidates who fulfill these requirements will be permitted to appear for the examination.
Candidates who successfully pass the examination will be designated as ‘Qualified’ and become eligible for registration as authorized Patent Agents in the official Patent Register. Upon registration, Patent Agents are empowered to engage in activities pertaining to patent prosecution and enforcement before the Patent Office under the Intellectual Property Office (IPO), India.
Under the provisions of the Patents Act, 1970, qualifying the Patent Agent Examination is a statutory requirement to practice as a Patent Agent and to have one’s name entered in the Patent Register. Any individual found practicing without meeting this prerequisite may be subject to legal action as per the relevant provisions of the ACT.
[Important Note]: "The Patent Agent Examination 2026" registration process is only available in Online Mode and as notified by the Office of CGPDTM.

- Visit The Intellectual Property Office, India in case you need latest details
- 📧 Ensure you have a valid personal email ID and working mobile number.
- Note: Candidate need to make sure the email ID and mobile number is in working status, the end to end examination online login and communication and details are via these two.
- 📸 Upload a clear, high-resolution passport-size photograph in JPG/JPEG format. The file size should up to maximun 300 KB.
- ✍️ Upload a legible signature in BLACK INK ONLY in JPG/JPEG format, not exceeding 100 KB.
- Note: Signatures in CAPITAL LETTERS will not be accepted.
- 📄 Prepare and keep ready scanned copies (preferably self-attested) of the following documents in PDF format:
- Proof of Age (Any One) :– PAN Card, Driving License, Class 10th Certificate, Birth Certificate, etc.
- Degree Certificate :– As per Section 126(1)(c) of the Patents Act, 1970 (as amended).
- Proof of Citizenship (Any One) :– Passport, Voter ID Card, Birth Certificate, or Certificate of Nationality.
- Register with email and mobile number.--> Make sure unique User ID is selected.
- Fill out the online form with Personal and Examination related details
- Upload documents (Photo, Signature, Prrof of Age, Certificates, Proof of Identity)
Its highly recommended to the candidate to re-check all details given in application form before Final Submit. No changes will be allowed once form is submitted.
- As per the Rule 109(3) of the Patents Rules, 2003 the required fees for the Patent Agent Examination registration is ₹. 1600/- (Indian Rupees Sixteen Hundres Only) and same can be paid in online mode only, kindly pay the fee and submit the application.

Schedule for Viva-Voce examination will be announced after the completion of written examination. List of the candidates selected for the Viva-Voce examination will be published on the website. Only those candidates who have scored minimum of 50% marks in each paper separately will be allowed to appear for Viva-Voce.
